Un freakin' believable. A Republican is gonna run NJ. Who would have thunk it ?

Given what I've seen in Virginia over the past few years, I am pleasantly suprised.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of you! :smt038

Yep...I keep chanting to my self ...3 more years...3 more years.

One of the exit polls in VA showed 60% of Independent votors ended up voting Republican. I sure hope that trend continues into the mid-term elections and we get a bit more balance injected into the system.

Agreed... As long as what they say that they are going to do is not destructive to the ecomomy, or our way of life.

Most of Obama's policies are things that I would expect to see if we took one of our enemies (you pick), put them in charge, and said "do whatever it takes to destroy the US from within".

I find it amazing that the Democratic Party leadership can be so stupid.
National polls, as well as the exit polls from yesterday's elections-show that we (voters) are concerned about the ECONOMY.

Yet Pelosi and the rest of 'em can only talk about healthcare reform. Healthcare reform. Healthcare reform. It's a broken effing record. They don't give a rat's ass that the majority of Americans don't want what they're selling, and they keep trying to cram it down our throats.

IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!

We don't want the governement in charge of our healthcare system, selling us cars, and running our banks. They don't get it.
I'm feeling better about 2010 a year from now every day. They're digging themselves in deeper every day...

NJ had republican governors in the 80s & 90s. Tom Kean and Christie Whitless. They were both liberals. :(

Is Christie a closet lib or a real conservative?

This is precisely what has been going on since this President took office. It does NOT matter what the American people want. It's all about them and their never ending quest for power. To hell with the Constitution and the Republic. Get used to it, until they are all run out of town on a rail.

NY district 23 had been republican for years and years. I believe the district was gerrymandered (spelling) after the previous representative was given a job in the government.

Republicans never should have sent that left leaning republican into the race in the first place.

I believe that was a strategic move by the dem's starting with them pulling Mchugh(?) into his new position to force this special election. This woman(schozafozza?) that was supposedly a "republican" her views were so far to the left, the only thing republican about her, was her filing for the republican position. Her giving support to the Dem after she dropped out of the race just demonstrated that even more. Most of her supporters moved to Hoffman. Hoffman (the conservative, who had more normal republican platform than the woman that dropped out) came in late, wasn't familiar with the political process, and still gave the dem a run for his money (45 vs 49% of the votes). Unfortunately, he missed the mark. They never had a republican primary to help sort this out ahead of time. It might have helped.

One thing though (this all went on just across the lake from me, so we've been inundated with political ads all thru this) is we won't have to see all those ads anymore. Thank goodness.

I'd rather see a real conservative lose than a RINO win. We don't need those kind on our side of the isle.

Yeah, she supported gay marriage (even owens - the dem doesn't support that - civil union is as far as he's willing to go), abortions, and most of the pelosi/reid/obama platforms! Republican??? right....

Anyone remember what happened when Rudy Giuliani had to drop out of the NY Senatorial race b/c of health issues (prostate cancer)? The guy who stepped in was trounced by Mrs. Clinton b/c he was an unknown and threw his hat into the ring very late. Look what that got us (I say us b/c I was born and raised in NYC, and lived there until 2000) - two horrifically liberal senators - one worse than the other. Also paved the way for her to get where she is now. To think how different things COULD HAVE been! There was no way Giuliani would have lost to "her."

I hate my Senators, I hate my congress reps. I hate my Governor. I like Bloomy.
