Looked at a 1989 220 DA (which I think later became the 250) ... there was a rectangular hole cut in the floor in the back of the cabin between the exit and the aft cabin. It didn't look like it came that way and there was some water in it. The carpet was damp around it.. but I couldn't tell where the water came from. I guess my question is did it come that way or is this some sort of quazi-sump that someone created?

do you have A/C water could be from the condensate line mine drains in to the aftbirth near the area you discribed

my 78 240WE has the same sump with no hole to drain to the bilge
mine has an auto bilge pump in it that discharges out a thru hull fitting on the port side
best guess on mine it's for the refrigerator condensation drain

In my 1990 250 DA that was the sump for the shower; I bet that is what it is. You can check it by putting water in the drain in the head. BTW that was the best boat I've ever owned...
