Engine room pics of '08 330DA with stern drives

I pulled up next to a 290 AJ like mine except her had V-drives where as I have Bravo-II's. We compared engine compartments and he wanted to cry. I can pretty much fit another pair of engine in front of mine and still have room to spare. I am fully loaded with genny and the big fuel tanks (as compared to a 290 DA). It's amazing how much space you lose with V-drives and how much you have with outdrives!!!!!

Hi Mike,

enjoyed the pics. I have 496 Horizons. What's the difference between them and your Seacore's?

You actually have 8.1L Horizons. There is no difference in the block. The 496 designation indicates outdrives, where you have straight shaft inboards. The 8.1L has 370hp while the 496 has 375hp. Mercruiser names the inboards with the metric nomenclature and the outboards with the SAE nomenclature. The SeaCore is an option for the outboard drives giving them more corrosion resistance. It ~ $5,000 option.

Yes, that was also my question. You really want to have extra valves in place for a bypass setup for winterizing.

That's how it came when I took delivery. I assume it was set-up that way from the factory. I honestly have no idea why there is that extra bypass. I suppose a valve coule be installed esily enough to drain the tank and add antifreeze.

Amazing how much extra ER room you have when the transmissions are under water!:smt043 Just funnin', but how come the 330 is 1600 lbs heavier than my 320 when the two are exactly the same dimensions except for the extra in of beam on yours?

I assume the big blocks weigh more and the hull is more stout for the big blocks. 225 gallons of fuel capacity. Maybe heavier cabin cabinetry. It all adds up.
