foot pedal for windlass no working

Does anyone have any idea why the foot pedals don't work, but yet the remote for the windlass does? Is their any inline fuse or breaker that is not part of main panel or sub-panel at helm? The boat is a 2000 340 sundancer. I can not figure it out and do not have a manual.

I do not think there is an inline fuse on the bow controls. Most likely the switch on the foot switch has gone bad. I had the exact same scenario (only just the Up switch) and the $45 replacement unit did the trick for me.

My mechanic told me that there is a master control "box" that both the helm and bow switches connect too, so if they both do not work, then the "box" is the likely culprit.

He told me to replace the bow footswitch and all is well. A simple task.

Easy enough to check your switch with an Ohm meter to see if it is contacting.

Mine stopped working and I took the screws out and cleaned out some sand and dirt and it worked! worth a try

same happened to me and, as katricol says, cleaning it did the trick. its a very baasic sprung pressure switch. sand it down & maybe youll get lucky too!

On the Lofrans Marlin windlass on our 02 280, there is an inline fuse located in the anchor locker. In our case it was located near the control box.

Try to look for the fuse, too. That is what happened to mine. It is inline, hanging in the anchor locker, near the control box. Also look to see if an errant dockline knocked a wire off of the control box (small ones). Watch for live 12v and more amps that your body can handle.
