This is my first post I am in my second year of boating here in Buffalo NY and have purchased a 99 270 DA, prior to me purchasing I believe this boat was stored inside due no sign of antifreeze in fresh water tanks, (didnt have this prob last yr) my question is the previous owner had installed an AC/Heat unit under the galley sink starboard and drains out where the galley sink would typically drain, as a result galley sink, head sink, shower drain are routed to the shower bilge pump under the cabin steps and then drains to my holding tanks, as you can imagine i have antifreeze in my fresh water system and my holding tank consistintly fills when using freash water. How do I avoid filling the holding tank and pumping several x's to flush fresh water sytem< Any ideas?? any one have similiar set up. How hard would it be to reroute the fresh system.

Thanks for your help

Most sink drains directly overboard. BUT, there are some lakes where this is prohibited and I know one of them is in your area(Lake George?). If that is the case, you could just T the sink drain into the existing overboard drain where the A/C goes overboard. Just make sure that if it's plugged it won't hurt your A/C. The shower drains usually have a pump that pump the shower water overboard as well. Assuming that's OK in the lake you boat, I don't know why you couldn't take this approach? It would mean a couple of through hull fittings and some hose to redirect your shower sump overboard and just send your sink drains directly overboard avoiding the shower sump.

As far as finding antifreeze in your tanks, a lot of folks just drain the water and use compressed air to blow out the lines. That way you won't have to overcome the antifreeze taste when you recommission in the spring.

Looks like boat was modified but there is few models where sinks are connected to sump pump, but sump pump discharges overboard. I would check if there is no "Y" valve installed somewhere which let you direct water from sump pump to holding tank or directly overboard.

Thanks for the help, so far I haven't been able to find a y connection, I will take another look around in the engine compartment and shower bilge. I am also thinking about disconnecting the ac unit and reconnecting the sink drain just to flush out the antifreeze and then at that time I might just put in a y,... I boat in Lake Erie there is no laws about fresh water overboard, most boaters at my marina find it strange that I have this setup on my boat. Also, we don't drink the water.. just use to wash hands etc. so standard in my area for winterizing to include antifreeze flush for water system. Ill keep trying Thanks
