Hello.

I have no idea about engines. Actually the only thing I know is my motor and leg is really old and worn out. Been spending a lot of money on them its killing me.

Now the mechanical says both fuel pumps need to be replaced. I had no idea the engine had 2 fuel pumps. He also says to get to them the engine need to come out. Now that seems like madness to me.

Seem I really need to get some lessons on doing these repairs myself or I might get divorced.

Could anyone confirm the engine really does need to be removed or can I get in there with small hands and a long tool and replace them without needing to do that ?

BTW : I have a 2004 SeaRay 260DA in AU is called a 275.

Mechanic has said this is what needs to be done ;

Fuel tank drain clean and flush
Engine removed, low pressure fuel pump replaced
High pressure fuel pump and cooler system replaced
Injectors out tested and cleaned or replaced
Pressure regulators replaced

Do you have a confirmed case of contaminated fuel? From that list it sounds like the mechanic wants to shotgun your entire fuel system. For that kind of money, I would definitely seek a second opinion.

Your fuel-injected engine will have an electric fuel pump, in which case there should be no need to pull the engine to replace it.

I hope you are right. I am going to try and do this all myself

No, you need to put a gauge on the fuel rail, there is a schrader valve the you attach the gauge to.

I know a few that have replaced that inline pump with aftermarket and have had zip problems with them.

Saving money is good.

You can aslo look to see if you have a company local. Not sure what they are called but will come to you hook up to boat and polish and clean fuel that is there. It cleans tank and everything
