Generator possibilities in 260DA Sundancers

We were like you, we went from a 2006 200 SEL to our 260DA last year. Don't let the 6 foot jump scare you it is not that bad. If I had it to do over again this year I would look into a 280DA with the full set up. You may be able to find a 280 with what you are going to spend on the 260 and retrofit. There are some killer deals right now.

If you decide to go through with this, Westerbeke makes a 3K unit that was designed specifically for the smaller cruiser.

Great info, thanks. I've begun to eye the 270's, and even those are rare with a generator. Boattrader has one on the Chesapeake, a '98 for $29,900. Seeing as how that boat has a seperate dinette and v-berth, it really appealed to my wife. Ability to sleep 6. Might be good when the kids get a bit older and bring friends... There goes that creep again, just ONE MORE FOOT!

Gunn, I'm not sure how tall you are, but be sure to test-fit the v-berth (if that's where you plan to sleep). When we were looking, we seriously considered a 1999 250DA. That berth was barely (just!) long enough for me and I'm not quite 6 feet.

The '00 260DA has an odd-shaped berth, with the side adjacent to the head (stbd side) longer than the one next to the kitchen area (port side). This arrangement made the berth long enough for me to sleep in comfortably. The aft cabin berth is too short, so we sleep on the v-berth.
