Finally, got my new to me 2000 270 in the water after a maintenance check and there is a lot more to this boat than my 95 23' Maxum.

So I had my mechanic flush the water system and now it's in my slip but I need to fill up the holding tank for the water system. Is it as easy just sticking the hose in and filling it until I see the holding tank full or is there more to this than meets the eye?

Also, anything special I have to do to get the head ready?

I'm having an experienced boater come over on Sunday but would like to take care of some this stuff myself if I can

Thanks again for the help!

Stick the hose in and fill her up. If the water at the marina is funky, you may want to filter it. I also stick a cap of clorox in just to kill anything.

Vacuflush, turn it on, flush. See if it works and holds a vacuum.

If it were me I would go to Walmart and get the blue packets of holding tank conditioner to put into your holding tank. Just flush down the toilet fullof water. I would also while I was in the RV section of Walmart get water conditioner ( I like the liquid stuff) to gointo your water tank. You add one cap full thru your water intake on the side of your hull. I would also get some RV toilet paper (must have) while your at Walmart. Do not use regualr toilet paper. If you boat sits for several days your water in your tank will more than likely go bad anyway and would will need to run it out.

This sounds easy enough :smt038

It took my awhile last night to figure out that I had to turn the key to the left to listen to the radio without the engines running.

Tonight I'm heading to the marina to hook it up to shore power and try to put the two bimini's up with the camper canvas.

We are getting thunderstorms with high winds tonight and tomorrow so no going out on it but plenty of cleaning the inside.

I have a holding tank for the poop (black water) and a tank for fresh water. I fill the fresh water tank from a white (drinking water) hose.

The gauge in the head is not for the fresh water tank. The guage is for the holding tank with the black water.

Tip: don’t trust the gauge on this or any other tank (fuel) until you have had the boat for a while and confirm its accuracy.

Every now and then I pour Sealand dry cleaner into the bowl to clean and deodorize the system and twice a year I pour in a pint of vaseline oil for...well...lubrication (don't laugh :smt021) It seem to keep the gaskets as new.

Pietro is right on the lubrication, also a squirt of dishwashing liquid every few flushes helps. Dawn seems to work best.

Will the Dawn clean the inside of the tank?

If the water tank is empty..make sure the water pump is off till you have water in the tank...

Thanks! I'll definitely try it. That's much better then cleaning the sensors manually.

Our sensors were clogged when we purchased the boat, one of the many things MM "missed" on there 100 point check list. I filled the holding tank from the deck plate and used a dose of Rid - X septic tank cleaner. Read it on a CSR thread and it worked. The Dawn helps to keep the build up off the floats.

With my limited experience I REALLY hate to second guess anyone, however, Is Rid X or any septic tank product a good idea for the rubber parts in the Vacu Flush system?

I'm heading off to the site to confirm but the manual may say Do not use.....x,y,z type products.

I got the Rid-X scoop on another CSR thread, it is primarily a "natural" product that consists of enzymes and bacterias that feed on the waste, cellulose in the toilet paper and the fats and starches that go down the bowl. They do not list chlorine or other chemicals in there ingredients that may be harmful to the rubber seals in the system.
