I just picked up a Sharp LC-32SB23U 32" LCD HDTV at Walmart for ~$400 ($100 off). This is to replace the 19" LCD HDTV in the cockpit. I think this will just fit where the 19" was because this in on a pole mount and have just enough clearance (If I measured correctly!!). I'm waiting on a bracket to act as an adpater plate to mate to the standard SeaRay TV pole mount which the 19' is attached too. This 32" is light (25# and has a good contrast ratio needed for the cockpit viewing, the 19" is a Sharp and has a great picture with good viewing from the cockpit but is a tad small for watching the ball games.

That's a big TV for the cockpit. I hope it will be mounted securely. It's not the weight so much , as overall bulk and the short viewing distance from a screen that big .

A 32" doesn't seem too bad...here are some big TV's in the cockpit...(not my boat)

I'm using the pole mount that SeaRay uses for cockpit TVs. It's very sturdy and what the 19" is mounted on. I have a bracket adapter that will expand the VESA mounting pattern of the mount to the larger VESA pattern of the 32". I saw a lower quality and heavier 32" TV (Magnivox) that had the same VESA pattern as the mount (smaller) and thought about that TV but with the Sharp another $100 off and much higher contrast....well couldn't resist!! BTW the VESA mounting are for directly attaching to the wall or roof so they are very sturdy. The Sharp 19" that SeaRay supplied is almost as heavy as the 32" because it has a built in DVD player, so I'm sure the mount will handle this 32". The leverage point sits about the same distance away from the mount so the torque shouln't be much higher, and I don't plan on leaving it out except at dock or anchor so we should be OK.

Thanks,

I almost missed the second flat screen hanging from the overhead for the helm...jeez...
Hey, to each their own I suppose. I wonder how they hide the cabling every time the boat moves and they have to take the TV down. Is that FIVE speakers in the port side of the arch?

I think this boat needs more speakers

This boat looks a lot like a for sale 50+ Sea Ray cruiser that was docked in Hampton for a few weekends. The seats had many many subs mounted under them. The owner was getting a kick out of the ladies in our group sitting on the seats and um, well, enjoying the vibrations. Yeah, one of those lots of drinks stories.

Just an update. I got the adpater bracket drilled and mounted part of it on the SeaRay pole bracket and the other half on the 32" Sharp TV. Everything fit but I need to move the mounting point so the TV slides about 1/2" to the port side because the lower edge is just pressing against some soft trim on the starboard side wall. The 32" TV just fits between the rear of the capt's seat and the starboard side wall. I got everything installed and powered up the TV after a brief channel searching it found a number of local channels, many in HD. The picture quality is outstanding, sound quality is good and plenty loud enough for outside in the cockpit. I will probably make a small bracket for the lower part of the TV to attach to the pole just down from the main attachement point, the TV has 4 recessed threaded inserts where the stand would normally mount. It just looks like it belongs on a boat, I'll try an get some images after I get everything just right.

Considering the price this Sharp TV is a bargin, 1Meg Pixel, high contrast, bright display, 4 HDMI inputs, PC input, all the usual audio video stuff including optical and coaxial audio.

Here's a good one for all the psychiatrists out there. After reading this post, this is the first image that popped into my head, no lie...

Mike you have to show us boaters from the frosty north a picture or two.

The closest the wife and I will get to "boating" in the next few months will be a Parrot Head party and a couple of boat shows.....

Hang in there Rick spring is just a few months away!! I need to get everything set up and running before the big Gators/Sooners game Jan 8th. My youngest is a sophmore at Florida...so you know whom I'm rooting for....Tim Tebo and Co. One of my collegues has tickets to the game in Miami, I had tickets to the SEC champioship game between Alabama and Florida in Atlanta but had to work that weekend...heck I'v been working the weekend for the past 2 months!!!

I did get my bracket drilled to move the TV over to the port just a tad, so maybe tonight I'll be able to try it out. When everything is set up and to my liking I'll try and post some images.

Happy Holidays
