Hi guys,

We recently bought a 98 Sundancer 240, and my brother got us a Garmin GPSMAP 440 for it. Is it possible to reconnect the transducer already in place to the Garmin unit? I've looked around Garmin's website and couldn't find anything that explicitly said yes or no. Thanks again for all your help!

 go to garmin.com and recheck you model there are 440s.440sx =xm satillite w/weather view..Nice unit.
the transducer must be compatible check what you have and if it plugs in and works let us know?:smt001

Is this the transducer for the original depth gauge? If so - it is most likely not compatible - probably a different manufacturer - mine was Uniden. I believe the 440 comes either no transducer or with a transom mount which can also be used in 'shoot thru' mode - installed in the bilge with epoxy which allows it to shoot the signal through the bottom of the boat to get your readings. The advantage is it doesn't require any holes in your boat - the disadvantage is you don't get the temperature readings like you would on a transom mount. You can swap out to various through hull transducers - Garmin offers them as does Airmar.
