I am planning to store my 98 330 Sundancer in a heated area. What winterizing do you owners recommend? I have an Ice Maker and AC. Twin 7.4's My last vessel was an I/O stored at home. Oil-Filters, Fuel Filters, Stabilizers and cooling system are on the list. I am not sure about the AC, Hot water Tank and Water. Pump out is free with the haul out. Appreciate some tips and opinions.:smt100

I think I'd still drain and flush all the water lines - just a guess, but I would think the water would start to smell pretty bad if left in there that long. Antifreeze in the engine to cut down on rust. You could use a very diluted mixture. This, of course, is if you are POSITIVE that the heat will stay on. Personally, I'd feel more comfortable just doing things as normal.

We replaced a cracked block this Spring for a customer who stores his boat in a heated garage. Heat turned off, he didn't know about it. Trying to save the cost of 5 gallons of antifreeze ended up costing him quite a lot more.

That is a good point on the heat failure possibility. I plan to drain as usual X 2 this time. My bigger concerns are AC and HW Tanks. All looks relatively easy, except for compressed air blowing. Yes I agree on the water getting foul too. Had that experience with a camper years ago.

I don't have A/C, but on my HWT I can blow that out by mouth. Then I just pump a little pink through it till it comes out nice and pink through the other hose.

We do the normal fall fluid changes and PM per the manual. Ice maker is defrosted and dried out. Water system drained and the head cleaned and pumped. That's it. We don't winterize anything. There is no need. In the unlikely event of a loss of heat, the building will stay well above freezing for days. The marina staff works on boats year 'round and would fix the heat if there were a problem. One year a gale wind blew a huge door off and my boat was nearly hit. They had a replacement door installed in no time. They use alarms during off hours to warn of problems. Charge is $5.95 a square foot not counting swim platform and bow pulpit. It's a heck of a deal.

:huh:Where do you store at ? This is my first year and I am trying J&B in South Haven?

If using a "professional" building - monitored, maintained, etc, then I would not be worried, either.

$5.95 per "square foot"? Holy mackerel! Or, do you mean per linear foot? I hope, for your pocket books sake, you meant linear.:smt001

My is $6.00 SF which is reasonable with Haul Out, Pressure wash, Pump out and Spring Commisioning. The close to home thing makes it more reasonable.

We store at North Shore Marina in Grand Haven. It is $5.95 per square foot or about $2,400 per year. Includes the haul out, power washing the bottom, pump out and launch in the spring. A bit expensive, but then my slip is free.

Oh, well then, that changes everything. I'd say that is certainly a good deal! :smt001
