This coming weekend I will be helping my son locate a leak in his fresh water tank. But first we need to locate the tank. The water inlet is on the starboard deck. The cabin layout has the cabinets, sink, fridge, etc. on the port side. The dinete is on the starboard side with the water pump under the aft seat. I'm thinking the tank may be under this area but the floor is not elevated, so I'm not sure. Looking for anyone who may have experience with this year of boat and layout. Thanks for any advise.

Not sure if you are speaking of your boat or your son's but generally on the older Sea Rays their is a hatch on the deck in front of the cabin door. Look in the hatch then look forward.

Thanks, and I'm talking about my son's boat. And I see I didn't mention it is a 340 Sundancer. There is a small hatch in front of the aft berth, this is where the forward sump pump is located.

My 88 is layed out just opposite. Dinette on port side. The entire area from the stairs to just short of the forward v berth bulkhead is raised about 6 inches. I had to pull the carpet and then the plywood deck up to access the corroded tank for replacement.

I have an '84 340 Sundancer that is laid out like you describe. The water tank in mine runs the length of the galley floor. In front of the door to the head, I felt around the carpet and found 4 screws for a small hatch that lets you access the fittings on the tank. I have concluded from talking with many others that the only way to get the tank out is remove the floor. I also have a leaking tank, but have not taken on the project. Please let me know how this works out for you.

Thanks Happy, this is one of the top 2 locations I thought it might be....and based on this info and the location the leak is exposed, it sounds like I'm going to start in this area. I'll take photos and post them. Thanks again. Rich.

Rum Runner, Mine had corroded beyond repair. To get the tank
out of the cabin I had to cut it in two to clear the doorway. After setting in proper supports I installed two plastic tanks plumbed together. This way I was able to get them thru the door. It also increased capacity about 20%. I had warning signs. My primary filter screen kept collecting little pieces of a hard white substance (previously tank metal). Good luck

Thanks again Happy. In my last post I misstated a bit. I think the description bcbcrus provided may be right..the layout of his boat and my son's boat seems to be the same. Your boat and my "87" DA seemed to be layed out the same. Either way I appreciate the input from both of you. This is a great site....isn't it. Rich
