I am new here, but I have read up on all the mod posts concerning stereo upgrades and still had a few questions. I have a 2000 460 and will be upgrading the stereo with many components. First I'll give the setup.
Adding:
1 Alpine F600 Amp (Power cockpit speakers)
1 Alpine M500 Amp (Power 10" JL Audio MIB5 Sub)
4 JL Audio M770 CCX Speakers

What is already installed:
4 Kenwood Speakers as pods on top of Radar Arch
1 Boston Acostics Amp, the 50 model
1 10" MB Quart Sub under bench seat

Question is should I tap into whereever the current amp is running for power or should I go directly to the batteries?

If I go to the batteries, should I tap into both starboard and port or just one of them?

Thanks so much, will post pics when I get the work done in March.

I have no idea, but...but ah...ah...any pictures?

"4 Kenwood Speakers as pods on top of Radar Arch"

Go to the batteries. Use an inline fuse. Use marine grade wire, 4Ga or thicker. Go to the "House" Side, whichever that is.

Hope this is helpful. I am running 1/0 Gauge Direct from batteries with a 100 amp circuit breaker as close to battery connection as possible. Close to battery is where fuse should always be.

Pseudomind...I dont have any pictures of the pods yet...I will be going down to the lake in March to do the install and I'll snap pics of everything. They are 6 1/2" marine Kenwood speakers, 2 facing forward and 2 facing rear. They were put into a custom enclosure and mounted on top of the arch.

I am just curious to see how this looks. Do you have radar, I would think with a 460 you would. I just cannot envision this from looking at my boats arch as not appearing too cluttered looking perhaps.

I know mine with the TV antenna, the radar, hailer speaker, GPS and electric horns looks about full enough.

Ok I had replied before you posted the picture, I was envisioning something bigger, sort of like what Sat domes look like, and four of them would look a bit crowded, especially with my radar.
