Just wanted to post an intro... I just purchased an '89 250 DA, I've never actually seen it with my own eyes... I'm deployed to Afghanistan with the Army National Guard and came across the boat quite by accident, it's located at a marina that is walking distance from my house... so I made the owner a really lowball offer contingent on a survey and he accepted! The boat checked out and now I own it! I'll be home in a few weeks so I'll be spending my mid tour leave relaxing on Lake Travis!

I made it home from Afghanistan for my 2 week leave, spent the first 2 days getting her all cleaned up. she cleaned up really well and i'm pretty pleased with it overall. I took a huge risk buying her sight unseen but it seems like I got lucky. She started right up, everything seems to work with the exception of the speedometer and the trim tab position indicator. Other than that I haven't found anything else that needs attention!

Glad to hear everything worked out! The speedo is probably fed through a small hole in the front of the outdrive you can probably clean out. The trim units are small pucks located on either side of the outdrive. One is for the indicator and the other controls the height regulated between the up/down switch and the trailer switch. Best to replace both at the same time, they are even sold only in pairs. Major job to replace them, the outdrive needs to be pulled. Wait till winter when the drives are serviced and have it done then. Check the bellows and gimbal bearing at the same time and replace as necessary.
Hope there is enough water in Travis you can get around!
Take care and thanks for your service.
