Just curious about just how much ice output per day these icemakers produce. I have always brought ice onto the boat for drinks but this year I am going to be doing quite a bit of fishing. Just curious. Thanks

Without knowing your specific model (just look it up online and you'll find the daily capacity), most make 20-25 lbs/day.

Don't know about your type of fishing, but when we go out we typically carry at least 75 lbs for a summer day trip, more for an overnighter. For most, it's not practical to use an onboard ice maker to fill coolers.

The serious sportfish owners use the saltwater ice maker:

Typical Norcold "Icerette" moders; makle 25# per 24 hour day. These units are a freezer with a ice maker just like you have in your home frig. These work fine at the dock and will stow ice fine, but they do not work well under way as the water slops out of the freeze trays and then freezes what ice you have already, but forms a solid block.

If you are serious about Ice get a Scottsman and an water maker.
