Last weekend we did our first away from our dock sleepover. Although we were tied up in another marina we did not have accessible shore power. So, no problem, got this big 320 Sundancer with genset.

I go down into the salon, open up my little notebook of how to make things work. Follow all the steps, turn off all my switches, turn on the blower, let it run several minutes, hit the genset on button, and push start! Cranked right up, no problem at all. I move the little slider over the shore power switch and push the switch for the gen. Nothing! No power! Gen is running well, discharging well. What the hell!!!!!

I go and get my friend, he owns a 320 as well. He comes over, looks at everything, looks right. Lets check fuses and breakers. Up goes the engine hatch, I'm pushing breakers. Up walks our local Sea Ray guy, asks what the problem was. We tell him. He says, "ya know there a switch on the generator?" Hmmm, no we didn't know that! I reach in flip that little white switch to the up position and bingo, we got power!!!!!!

My excuse, "hey this is a new boat to me!" My bud's excuse, "as soon as he said that I, remembered about that switch!!!!!"

Oh well, we got her running, got power, admiral was happy!

Yesterday, we had our first trip of the season. Everything, except for low DC meter readings in the cabin, is working great.:smt038

I still don't know if there is a switch on the generator, and if it is there, where is it?? We purchased Moondancer (new) and took delivery last April. The delivery "captain" never mentioned it and I didn't notice anything in the owner's package??

While at the dock last year, we didn't have hot water, but we did while the engines were running. When we re-commissioned Moondancer at the end of March, we (the maint. tech.) reset the breaker in the water heater, and all is well.

I suppose you haven't been reading all the threads about how you can kill all your marina neighbors or get yourself clubbed by running your genset at the dock?

I think he was referring to everyone else on the dock you could kill. Be careful. It sounds like you are having fun anyway.
