I have a 1978 SRV220CC and have put in a new motor, batteries and other workings. I now want to add USB ports for charging of devices while out on the water. I have not got a radio, plotter, depth/fish finder either and am looking for some advice for doing these. Please let me know what has worked the best for you.

Do you have a 12v plug already (cigarette-lighter style)? If so they make replacements that fit where that goes, and you don't even need to change the wiring. It's a 3-minute job to swap it out.

It does have a lighter but I am not sure it works. I will certainly check it. Sounds perfect and it won't take me more than an hour!! Lol

Thanks for the heads up.

Stuff like this. You can monitor your battery voltage and get a couple of ports in that lighter spot.

One caveat to replacing the lighter receptacle with a USB port, is you lose the ability to easily connect a trickle charger to your boat. If you also happen to have an electric deck hatch, you wouldn't be able to hook up a start pack to open the hatch in the event of a dead battery.

Perhaps a better solution would be something like this. That way you retain the original functionality. Bonus points; It's literally a 1 second install.

I will look into that as I already have those in my truck to use. I was afraid of the water getting in there from splash and such.

Good info. Thanks

Thanks to all the comments and suggestions. My lighter plug took some servicing but it now works with a plug in from my car so now I can charge while on the boat.
