Interchangability of transducers between brands?

Hi, I am wondering how interchangeable depth transducers are between brands? I have a furuno navnet with airmar shoot through hull transducer that are not working well together. I am wondering if I can try the airmar with my lowrance head unit (removed from my last boat sans transducer). I certainly don't want to try this if I'm going to ruin my head unit. Just trying to keep from putting in a 3rd transducer (I have a raytheon tri-data set of transducers already making holes in the bottom of the boat). I can also try to find a place to add a transom mount transducer for the lowrance, which i guess would be between the motors since it has twins.

most of the transducers where actually made by airmar, so you should be able to call them to get pinout, and or a converter cable, just be sure to find out model of transducer you have
