My marina began the commissioning process on the generator yesterday, and had trouble getting the generator to push water properly. The tech took off the stainless steel part shown below, and it was filled with salt. Last summer was the 1st year the boat was in the water. Anyone else have this problem? Generator is a Kohler 5kw low CO. I have heard that this was a new design on the exhaust, and possibly a Sea Ray recall.

The part in your photo is the water cooled exaust outlet.

See this sheet, main photo, sticking out the right side.

You have a Kohler 5ECD, and at this point - I feel like an expert on the shut down issues with the 5ecd and the Catalytic Converter. If you are under warranty this should be covered, but Kohler is on their 5th redesign. I had my Catalytic converter replaced - and the new one has slots and they reroute some of the hoses and add an additional sensor for shut down. What is happening is your water pressure switch is sensing no water pressure and shutting down with a LOC error code. So, get with a Kohler dealer to get the Catalytic Converter replaced - it is a well known issue - also while you are at it clean and/or replace your water pressure switch at the same time. Hope this helps. The new design there is a hose that dumps on the side of the catalytic converter and the slits are substantially larger than the holes in yours. Good luck and ask away - I wrestled with this issue for a year and a half and really am excited to have things working properly. Don't accept the new catalytic converter in the pictures. Ask them for the latest version. I will try and take pics once I get to the boat in a week or so.

Mike,
Looks like Aquapalooza won't happen this year at Tims 2. You and the wife will have to come to Colonial Beach and hang with us for that weekend. Or we could all go to Tims 2 anyway and just anchor there.

No kidding? I was waiting on a date. OK, we will plan something. That way I don't get my new paint job ruined...

Lol! Yeah, that would be bad...... Let's plan something soon. Looking forward to summer!!!!!! We are already spending evey weekend on the boat. I pack my bag on Friday when I get home and don't get home again until Sunday night. Thats easy for me as I am only 10 miles away from my boatthough, and can moor in front of the house if I need too.... Lol

Rich

Boat should be splashed tomorrow. When Jason gets back from Iraq, we will have to do a reunion. James also bought a SeaRay in the fall, so we can make our own party. No techno all night this time.
