Lake Lewisville

never have but plan to one day. usually go to joe pool (the pond) since its only 5 minutes away

We are on Texoma, we have thought about dragging the boat down to Lewisville for a weekend. Just got to be careful on Lewisville, the crazy to square footage of water ratio exceeds my comfort zone at times. Just not as young as I used to be.

I know what you mean. The marina ramp and fuel dock are between me and the lake. I'm still pretty new to this so maneuvering the boat through the virtual maze of the marina to get to the lake while dodging drunks that don't know what no wake means is pretty stressful. Once I get out on the lake its not too bad. It does get a little dicey when everyone heads back at once. I usually try to avoid peak times. I'd love to get up to Texoma. I may try to talk my brother into dragging the 18 footer up there. We don't have anything in the family big enough to pull the Sun Dancer yet. :smt009

TXVR6,
Know this is an older post, but I have been gone for a while. This will be the 5th season that I keep my boat on Lewisville. I'm up at Cottonwood Creek Marina in Little Elm. It sounds like your at Pier 121?

Currently we have our boats at Eagle Point Marina. We are contemplating moving either to Cottonwood Creek or maybe Lake Dallas Marina. Cottonwood Creek is very nice and it looks like they are in the process of adding some more slips. I need to go during business hours and talk to them.

Since the fuel dock is between my slip and the lake there is a ton of traffic to navigate through in some pretty tight quarters. We couldn't even leave the slip this past weekend as no fewer than ten boats fought for a spot a the fuel dock. There was a 55 footer and a 45 footer in there too that pretty much prevented any but the smallest of boats from being able to pass.

That is in addition to the traffic going to and from the boat ramp which is right next to the fuel dock.

My brother was already out in his boat so I had him pick me up at the end of the boat house. We came back a couple hours later and it was STILL jam packed.

The fuel dock at Cottonwood and Lake Dallas is very easy to access so you don't get those traffic jams. Eagle Point is nice but there are too many bottle necks.

How do you like it at Cottonwood?

Love it. We were thinking about Pier 121 when I first got our boat, since both marinas were the same distance from my house. So glad we didn't. Everything is new, and very well maintained. They have finished most of the construction and things are getting back to normal now. They always have the cheapest gas, and never crowded. Not sure where you live, but keep in mind that when that bridge is finished next year, it will only be a 5 -10 minute drive between Lewisville and Little Elm as opposed to 45 min - 1 hour drive now.

The water is actually green for the first time in several years. I guess if you stay at or above normal elevation for over a year, things clear up. Won't last to long though.

I hit Lewisville only once last year. I didn't even bother getting another pass.

I suppose with the levels back to normal, we'll be back out there soon. We just got back from 9 days on Tablerock but we'll need to get used to Lewisville again. ;) That is, until I just can't take the goofballs that were let loose with boats and PWC's anymore.

We'll be on Texoma again for the weekend of the 4th.

Searay Jim,
It's been a while. Hope all is well. Lewisville is what is has always been and that probably won't change. That is why I do most of my boating during the week. It is just nice to see the lake not so murky.

That's good to hear. We may get out there this weekend. We'll see. After having just spent a week on Tablerock, Lewisville might be a little disappointing.

We are in the process of moving from pier 121 on Lewisville to Eisenhower on Texoma. We have been on Lewisville for 3 years but the rarte increases and lack of disabled veteran discount finally sent us north. The Eisenhower people have been great!

Every time I fly into Dallas- most often on the weekends- I'm always fascinated how many boats are on Lake Lewisville when I look down as we are about to land. There is a nice Sea Ray dealer on the lake there however.

About 8 - 9 years ago I lived in Lantana, just north of Flower Mound.

I'm on lewisville almost exclusively. Fun lake, for sure. Lots of boats, but also lots of fun activity with tons of boaters.
