its been 10 years since ive been on the water !
i used to have a 1988 24' sorento with a 350 mag. i nearly cried when the wife suggested we might have to sell it to help get a bigger house. three kids later and i am looking at two decent 280's. both have about 100 hours. ones a 2004 the other a 2005. one is a single the other has twins. is there anything that i should be looking to avoid in these boats in terms of problems ? i will have a survey done before the deal is done. thanks

Hi Brian,

I suggest you get yourself a nice sandwich and a beer and start reading the 280 thread, there is a mine of information in there, it took me three days to go through it and I learned heaps.

Sorry I didnt answer you question but I'll guarantee the 280 thread will

thanks for your reply. saw the 280's and was very pleased until i saw the layout of the 300. we could be very happy with a 300. still looking.

You will be happy with the layout of the 300 until you see a 320. Then with the 320 till you see a 340. They get nicer ever model up. I would say decide what you want to do with the boat. If there is any chance to will be trailering, I think many would consider the 280 the largest the average person would want to trailer mainly due to weight and width.

Of course there are people towing 300s and on up so anything *is* possible with the right truck and permits.

How do you want to use the boat? Cruising, watersports? Do you plan to tow? If so with what?

saw the 320, great boat. however, it was intimidating in both its sheer size and cost. thinking 280 or 300 from 2003-2006 model/price range. 280 would be great to move on my own but it would simply be to and from storage. we will be pulling water toys and skiers. still looking.

If you are doing water sports kind of stuff a 280 is about as big as you will want to go IMHO. You are going to find the 300 takes longer to plane off unless you get the large engine package. My dockmate has a 300DA w.T5.0MPI and I can pretty much run circles around him performance wise. The beam and weight makes the 300 a GREAT cruiser but I can't see pulling a skier behind it very easily. Tubes should not be a problem.
