Looking at a 04 420DB coming from a 1997 400DA both with diesels want to know how much of a differrence in fuel comsumtion there will be?? Also does anybody know what the difference is in fuel cunsumtion from the Cat 3116 340HP in the 1997 400DA to the newer 04 420DA with 417HP Cummins??

I have the 417 cummins, an 03 version, same running surface (sea ray changed the swim platform but used same bottom configuration as my boat for the 04 and later versions) and I burn 23 gph at 22-24knots depending on conditions. Not sure about the Cats, those in the know on this forum say they burn less than the cummins.
