There is a warning of tides 2-4 feet below normal tonight and tomorrow in the Long Island, NY area. Apparently gale force winds are possible which may drive the water out to sea causing this unusal low tide.

Given that at low tide my slip only has maybe 4 feet of water and my boat's draft is about 3 feet should I be concerned?

Obviously if you are under way with your boat you need to be extremely careful, but when in the slip is there any cause for concern?

I think the bottom of my slip is just soft mud and I'm thinking the I/O will just bury itself without harm.

The boat is about 1 hour's travel so I am resisting going there to lift the I/O. It's normally full down.

Thanks for any comments.

should be fine if it's only soft mud, but keep a close eye on temp guage when you fire her up next time your there. those BIII water impellers don't like mud
Thanks.
One of my friends said that the bay should not go down that far. He thought the very low tide would apply to the ocean side of the inlet. We'll see.

BTW, it's a BII I/O.
