Wondering if anyone can help with this problem.
When I turn on my Sea ray navigator, the unit ask for an input from the keyboard or it wont boot up. I think I need to hit F2, I am not sure. Once the button is pressed it does all its stuff wonderfully. The only problem is once I shut the unit down and repower it again, I have to do the whole button pushing bit once more. Its getting annoying as I have to always keep my Keyboard beside me.
Anybody have the same problem, what could be causing it?

Second issue is when I power up my secondary unit, I get the same F2 button pushing problem plus my screen is all jibberish. Once I hit the F2 button and boot up the unit, I then have to shut it down with the power button and once I reboot, everything is fine.
Its driving me nuts.

I reallize the smart thing to do it to toss both units out and replace but the radar is powered by Maptech so I am looking at alot of bucks to replace.

Please help.

I have a 2005 390 DA with the same units but no issues. i'm comtemplating moving up to the RM E or C series. but I'm afraid that I will have to change out the array.

because maptech navigator is practically regular pc with fancy interface and touch screen I think that backup battery on motherboard is dead and needs replacement (this is why bios doesn't hold settings anymore and defaults them every time you start your unit). It is some kind watch/calculator battery right on motherboard

I agree that it sounds like the motherboard backup battery. The pain nowadays is that they are usually soldered to the leads which makes replacing them a bigger ordeal than it used to be.

I too believe it is the internal battery. Try leaving on the power to the electronics when shutting down until you have the time and ambition to change out the battery. That worked for me until I could pull the unit and send it in for battery replacement over winter storage. Good luck.

There is a bios update for this, it won't fix the problem but it will make it better. Call SeaRay Customer service for the number for Felix at Wytan Corporation, he can send you a bios update that will allow you past the bios battery issue, the clock will be wrong until it syncs with the GPS but it is better than having to have the keyboard hooked up.

I have spoken to Felix at Wytan on other issues. Here is his contact info.

the tech told me today the array has to go, too old. Now the bill is up to $3,500 x 2 for the E's, plus the new digital array..$3,000 plus three days at about $3,000...this is getting expensive!!!

You seem to bring this up in a thread every few months and you get the same answer. The radar array tied into the Sea Ray Navigator is not compatible with a Raymarine display. It's not the age. It's the manufacturer.... Scanners from one manufacturer do not work with another manufacturers display (in general).

I'm sure in a few more months you will post the question of "Do I have to get a new scanner if I upgrade to a Raymarine system?' again... Maybe we should just start pointing you back to the ump-teen times you've asked it before.

Oh wait... someone said you might be able to use a non-Raymarine scanner if you checked the serial number... I guess his wrong answer gave you some glimmer of hope.
