Hi Guys
This is a long shot, but since you seem to be the sum of all knowledge boating I'll start here. I just bought a 14 Zodiac with a 1992 60HP merc on the back. It is a center console with a Quicksilver throttle control with the ignition swith built into the control mechanism. I towed it to the regatta this weekend, and it performed flawlessly. since it was late when we got back to port, I put the dink on it's trailer planning on flushing it and washing it Monday morning. When I got to the boat to flush it the ignition key would not turn.. I don't know how far it is supposed to turn but it was like it was seized up and with pressure the whole key mechanism would try and rotate. I thought maybe it was not in neutral, and checked that thoroughly.. Checked voltage on the battery and got 12.69 volts.
I'm totally at aloss, as this is the first outboard I have ever owned in over 35 years of boating.
Before I take it apart and probably F^&* it up further I thought I'd float it here.
If you know of an older Merc forum I could ask, I sure would appreciate it.
1992 Merc 2-stroke
Quiksilver side mount throttle/shifter, with ignition switch built in..
Thanks
John
