You know how smaller cruisers don't have a walk-around and larger ones do? I would make the walk-around on larger cruisers extend from the back of the cockpit to just forward of the windshield. From there, I would blend the top to look like the smaller cruisers. This would open up 18 - 24" of side-wall room in the forward cabins. All of them would have walk-through windshields.

From a styling point of view, you would have to get used to the bullet-style front end, though I think it would be nearly imperceptible. The side windows could still be below the rail like the newer designs, though it wouldn't matter whether they were above or below.
 
This would actually open up a lot of room in the forward half of the salon as well.
