Hi Guys

I have had a few challenges propping my boat for more power. I bought a new 4 blade 18" which improved things but was still not quite right. I had it cupped and balanced, still not there. SO I tried a 15" 3 blade which was better but RPM was too high at 5400. Next was a 17" 4 blade which ended up as seen in the photo because we had to dry start off the bank to get up. BUT... see the new baby next to the old one (RIP) A high5 17 pitch professionaly ballanced and a small trailing edge cup. Should be able to pull my Fat Arse out of the water.

The Origional Prop Shop here in Melbourne has been brilliant and gone out of their way to keep me on the water, despite me having a few sense of humour failures.

Note to self... Keep the depth sounder turned on and the alarm set to ON.

PS.. She was driving ( cause She has more patience than me)

Cheers Mark

Mark...with that much damage to your prop, it is very possible you have damage to your outdrive as well (internal). You may want to notify your insurance agent and have a qualified mechanic look at your drive....Ric

You will love the new prop. Let us know what max RPM you are seeing at wide open throttle out of your 17P high five.

With that much prop damage, I am sure you have damaged your liver too…you have Urgent Care there?

The high 5 is a digger. I had one on my Ranger with a 150 Black Max. I think it would be the perfect skier prop.

When in shallow water go slooooow. Trim up as high as you can and idle out to deep water then trim down and go. Of course you know that now. That 5 should work well.

The High 5 Was my favorite prop when I had my 180. Don't hit stuff though.

Hi Guys

Back from a business trip at last...

Yeah the prop took a beating, but the drive unit seems fine. Checked it out and all seems good. The dammage was done by powering through a rocky area rather than a single direct hit. Lucky!!

The Hi 5 is BRILLIANT! It is a 17 pitch and pulls like a monster. I loose about 3 MPH off the top and mainly because I run out of revs and I throttle back. Flat out I run to about 5200RPM and about 37mph, but I am happy with the tradeoff. I have a spare 19 pitch 3 blade for longer distance cruising if needed.

I am painfully aware of the dammage to be done if I hit something with the Hi 5, but the lesson has been learned.

Cheers

Can we see a blow up of your profile pic?

Thats my wife and 16 year old niece. They are both Venezuelan where they always tell me the most Beautiful women in the world come from. I have been there and the hot ones must have all left and come to the US, because they were far and few between on my visit. Our niece was introduced to boating with us this summer and she loves it. She can now ski, kneeboard and tube but hasn't gotten up on a wakeboard yet.

Oh how rude of me, I didn't answer your question. No.

Hey Bill

Hope this pic works.. My new boat (new to me).

Cheers
Mark
