need help with shower sump problem

Do you think it's a cost issue why Sea Ray would use a less reliable/quality float switch and sump pump in the shower box?

I can't believe it would be a cost factor yet I am presently going through the same thing you went through. Right after we had our first run the shower sump would not shut off. We have never used it ....the boat has 40 hrs on it. I opened the box and played with the switch that was amidst pink fluid from winterization and it would not shut the pump off. To the right side there was a power friction fitted connector that I disconnected to stop the pump.

After contacting my dealer I am waiting for a visit from their service tech to install a new switch. I did find a thread on here the other day and apparently this is so common ...the "Rule-a-Matic" switch failing.....that guys are carrying an extra one if they are going away for a bit.

Anyone ever feel the need or desire to enlarge the holes on the shower drain? Seems like our want drain very well even when it's clear of any hair. As the water fills and with shampoo or cream rince even gets slower. The sump is fine and will handle the water with no problem but the drain grate itself seems to be the problem.

Is there an actual disconnect? I only saw the in line splices for the float and pump about 6 inches from the 2 units.

On my setup there is only one box with both the switch and the pump inside. To the right side is the power line for both with a quick connect/disconnect. You know the kind where you have to pinch one side and the other pulls out and you lose the feeling in your finger tips after the first two tries.

I never use the shower, the only other source of water going in there is the condensation from the AC, is that correct?

Although, last night when the float was stuck, the box was full of pink antifreeze, would that turn gummy enough over time and cause the float to not make contact?

I believe that you head sink also drains to that sump pump. That would explain how the pink antifreeze got in there. That's how it's plumbed on my boat.

No, I checked that and the only thing that goes to that container is the shower drain. The sink from the head goes directly outside as do all of the other sinks.

I didn't know they were quick connect/disconnect, they look like in line splices, I didn't try pulling them apart!

Would it help to dump some bilge cleaner in there every so often to help cut the crud buildup?
