Hi I have been reading this forum for a while now and just picked up a brand new 185 sport last week. I have a few questions about it.

What is the best way to wash the boat after having it out in the saltwater? Also when washing the inside I notice all the water builds up to the front of the boat what is the best way to clean the floors on the boat I currently just have a hand brush and use some boat soap that marine max gave me with the boat.

Also the oil level gauge I notice it goes to 80 right now it is on the line after 40 where should it be at is the normal?

And any other helpful tips you have for a new 185 sport owner would be great!

Thanks!

I can help with some of your questions.

For Saltwater make sure you get all the salt off you might want to use a product like Saltaway but there are other products. You can flush the engine with this too. Just make sure you flush the engine 10-15 minutes to get all the saltwater out and make sure it comes to op temp so the whole engine is flushed.

Bush and boat soap is good for the non-skid (floor). As for the water collecting at the front of the boat raise the front of the trailer up so ot all flows to the back into the bilge and out the drain hole.

As for the 80/40 oil guage question not sure what your talking about, are you talking about oil temp, pressure, or the dip stick?

You'll want to put your boat and location info in your signature for others to help you.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I am talking about the gauge on the dash it says oil and it goes up to 80 and the needle is on the line right after 40 I just wanted to knwo where that guage should be at.

I'm in south Florida too so I launch my boat in saltwater 95% of the time. It really does make cleanup a lot more work because salt is so destructive you need to use soap and water everywhere. I use one of those long reach brushes to was the deck and most of the interior with just ordinary marine/boat soap. I flush the boat for 10-15 minutes at about 1200 rpm (obviously not in gear), it needs to reach normal operating temperature for the thermostat to open and flush properly.
