Does anyone know now the TV antenna from the transom locker and radar arch are run to the signal amplifier mounted below the TV in the cabin of the 320’s? I just bought a 32 inch wide screen HDTV which I plan on mounting on the wall over the aft cabin. To do this I will need to run the antenna wire back from this amplifier to the TV. If I can do this I will also pull 3 cables from the DVD player above the existing TV. With the addition of this TV, the existing on in the cabin will be removed and I am going to use this space for a wine rack, or one of those small wine coolers. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Ive looked through the manual and i cant find the exact routing of the RG-6 Coax cable, but it does look like most of the wiring routes along the port side "ledge" from the transom all the way forward. Im pretty sure that amplifier is only for "On-Air" signal boosting (ie: analog antenna boost) so routing from that back might not make any sense. Theres not enough RG-6 coax run through the boat to cause significant signal loss. It might be easier to run a splitter from the aft-cabin TV to the new unit you want to mount on the wall. Take pics because id love to see how it comes out.

Good luck
Mike

Ditto to what he said, as well as what you used to mount the set with on the inside helm panel, which is over the aft cabin. I would think some type of additional load diffusing would be needed. perhaps, "my favorite" a strip of starboard inside the rear helm instrument panel wall.

Do they make cover panels for these TV's? I am not so sure how well these large screens hold up to someone suddenly placing there hand on the screen to stabilize their self if the boat gets to rocking.

Bill,

As Mike above mentioned...might be easier to install a splitter. Just make sure it's after the amp which is for On-Air signals. If you think you will ever install a Sat Dish or HD DVD (Blue Ray) then also route an HDMI cable along with the antenna cable routing. I just installed a Sharp 32" HD LCD (LC-32SB23U) in the cockpit and will be installing a Sat Dish soon. Got the TV at Walmart for $400, it has a 1M pixel display, 4 HDMI inputs, fiber and coaxial audio out, wide viewing angle with a very bright display with 7500:1 contrast (important for outside viewing in the day time) and automatic adjust for lighting conditions. It works well as a laptop monitor also with the PC input. All the TVs on our boat are Sharp, so wanted to stay with brand SR supplied. I posted this earlier but Walmart sold 2 complete pallets in 1 day!!

My friend built a box around his 32" Tv installed in this same spot. The box helps relieve some of the stress. I need to find the coax run from the transom to the cabin. I would like to connect the antenna for cockpit TV reception.

Not being cute here, but just where did you mount this TV? Have some pictures you can post.

As to the satellite dish, I take it that is only for while docked?

Did you look into anything offered by Direct TV TracVision?

TrackVision M1 a bit high upfront cost, maybe... but one will still be paying a monthly charge, even with a Satellite connection

This is a good idea, as I was worried about having this thing mounted by just a wall mount. Under normal conditions this would be OK, but when being rocked by heavy seas a would like the additional support.

Our 38DA came with a cockpit 19" Sharp HD TV and DVD combo, as well as 3 other TVs (I didn't order it this way it was as show room boat). The picture with over-the-air HD was great, but only a few channels are available. The 19" screen is small for watching ball games and such and since I like to dink around on the boat and watch ball games...well a larger TV seemed like an option. With the Wal-Mart deal I couldn't pass.

The 32" is installed where the 19" was...just behind the helm seat facing aft. SeaRay uses a pole type mount with a socket just behind the aft facing seats in the angled corner between the starboard wall and helm seat. This area is glass and provides backing for the aft facing seats. I made some crude measuements and figured the 32" would just fit. Then I had to figure out how to extend the pole 19" VESA attachment mount to the larger 32" VESA attachment. This was done with a TV wall mount. The mount was directly attached to the 32" and the plate that normally attaches to the wall was drilled with the samller 19" VESA pattern. After a couple hole readjustments in the mount plate everything just fits and it looks like a factory install. I still need to fabricate a small adapter for the TV bottom to attach to the lower pole section for added support, the TV has threaded mounting holes for the base which I'll use. Anyway I'll post some images after I get the lower adapter fabbed and painted.

I've been looking into Sat TV for some time. KVH, Raymarine and Intellian all offer good systems but all are expensive. When I finally plug the trigger it will probably be a HD compatible DISH system. I'll route a HDMI cable to the cockpit TV for the Sat TV HD channels but will keep the over-the-air in tack with a switch network. I'll post info later when I get going on this (soon I hope).

I really like the wine cooler idea - where the old TV is currently. I was searching online. I saw a 6 bottle wine cooler - that I thought might fit.

Thanks mawyatt. If you ever get any pictures I would like to see this 32" TV install.

You are welcome. I must say it looks factory, I am very happy with the way it looks and performs. The other night I plugged in my laptop and was reading this site (marina has wireless), then switched to a ball game in HD. I'll post some images soon.

Happy Holidays

I am looking at putting a 22" LCD TV w/built-in DVD player on the wall above the mid-berth. How did you guys get power to your units. I have an outlet down in the mid-berth and was thinking of running another outlet that would behind the unit, which works on shore/gen power. Does the batteries have a enough power to run a TV like this? If so, is it possible to wire an outlet that runs either from you batteries or shore/gen power?
sorry for the newbie type questions...
