Three days of activity for a <1 hour race? Yikes.

Any good marinas near the land based stuff?

By the way, are you planning to anchor in the ocean...or did you learn your lesson?

Jeff:

As for Marina's near the land based stuff, my short answer is no. The MM in Brick is fairly close, but not walking distance to the boardwalk in Point Pleasant.

I think there is a Yacht Club in Mantolooking and there is Johnson Brother's on the south end of the Pt Pleasant Canal. But Honestly, I really don't know the marinas up that way to well..

Try marinas.com

There are PLENTY of marinas just inside of Manasquan Inlet...but I'm not sure about their transient slips...never found a need to overnight there. Lots of BIG boats...over 60 fishing types in that area...

I've not made definite plans for that weekend yet...but if I do go, I'll have my nice shiney new CQR SS 44 pounder out there... ...it's in tranisent with a deliver date of next Tuesday...I'll post a pic when it gets in...

If you plan to make your way down, let us know....I'll tie off your stern and see if we can't put a little bend in your anchor...

The races are this Sunday - The Coast Guard will close the inlet so that the race boats can put on a show for the fans. It's sure is something to see....and hear.

The race starts at 1pm but at 12:45, all 40 race boats will come out the inlet at full speed. After the boats go out, you can walk down to Jenkinsons to see the start of the race. Get there early to get a good spot.

The race course goes from Jenkinsons, about two miles south to Bay Head. For spectators on the water, you'll need to stay at the North or South ends of the course.

I can't make it but if anyone does go....post some pics....
