Question on Raymarine RC435 (Raymarine's Response)

This will probably be moved.

I recently installed this unit, like last year. All of a sudden I am not getting a fix for like 5 - 10 minutes. And it seems that I lose the track. i.e. today I took a run of about 12 miles. On the return trip I was following my track. About half way back, the track ended. This has happened to me on several occassions and it is bugging the crap out of me. The unit also seems to refresh quite frequently.

I hate to buy a new unit, cuz this one is not old! It uses the GPS active antenna.

However, that said. If I replace the unit I am sure I will have to replace the antenna with a Raystar 125 GPS Sensor.

Here come the question:

1. What unit would you recommend?

2. Should get integrated depth/fishfinder?

3. How difficult is it to change out the antenna for the GPS sensor?

A friend has a Raymarine C80 which I think is a pretty cool unit. But I would love to figure out why the RC435 isn't working properly.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice/suggestions.

Raymarine's response:

Regarding tracks, you may be running out of track points. The RC435 will store 1000 track points. When the maximum number of track points has been exceeded, the display will delete points from the beginning of the track to permit points to be added to the end of the track. The default track point interval is 1 sec. You may want to consider increasing the track interval configuration setting.

Just thought I'd add this as an FYI.
