I am a new boater. I own a 300 2005 Sundancer..This is the third year I have dry docked it at my marina. The boat has The Raymarine Chartplotter and on the arch on the port side it also has a flat 12 inch disc which I believe is the radar disc. When the marina staff removed the shrink wrap last week, they broke off the disc from the arch.

Today, I went to the boat to inspect it and I discovered the disc in the Cockpit.

I brought it back to the office and they indicated they will fix it. How much damage have they done, and is this an easy fix.?

Thanks for any input. Just want to get another side to this from the pros here.:smt100

Doesn't sound like a radar dome, being flat. Most likely, it's an external gps antenna.

Is there any way you can post a pic? I think you are referring to the Glomex TV antenna being 12 inches in diameter. What is broke? My initial response would be "they broke it, they bought it" and should get you a new one.

Thanks jarhead.

Is this a big problem. Will it curtail the use of my Raymarine Chartplotter?. I have Depth finder, fish finder and all that goes with the Sereis C 80. I am not sure what this disc actualy does. Thanks much..

Does sound like your TV antenna so no it should not curtail your use of the plotter if it was working when you last used your boat. GPS antennas are usually small mushroom shaped devices and are not 12" in diameter (more like 4"). As far as a big problem........not really. Make sure they install parts that are not damaged and properly seal any holes that are breached. Test the TV, FM radio and whatever it was connected to and stuff works.

Thanks 330DA

Unfortunately I dont know how to post a pic..but when I did look at the disc closely it day say Glomax on the back. You are right and if this is the tv antenna then regardless the marina has to fix or replace.

Now that I have that info, just a note that last year I subscribed to Direct TV. They put a Dish on a piling in my slip cabled it to a receiver and I had TV. But I am now concerned that this may affect the overall reception.. I dont think it should.

But as you said they broke they own it. I am not letting them off the hook.

Thanks again.

Thanks SBW1.

I never thought about the fm radio. Definately going to have a serious discussion with the marina in the am. Hey, thank you all very much. We have enough to do when we are cruising and just want to enjoy the experience.
