In my hast to prepare for our 10 day floating vacation I purchased (on eBay) a Raymarine ST-60 TriData to replace my depth finder, speed indicator, water temperature and what ever else that can be done with this unit. The day before the trip I go to the boat to do the swap. WHOOPS, I have a Raymarine RayData. The new unit requires a little bit bigger hole in the dash and before I pull out the saw I was wondering if the new unit would work with my 1998 system. I have 41XX Radar, 601XX Chartplotter and a 650 Auto Pilot and can't remember the model number of the GPS (which I assume provides the speed). So my long winded question is does anyone know if I can continue or should I just list the TriData and get a RayData?

If the original transducers.....depth, speed, water temp...are raytheon, then it should work.... As for the rest of the display info, the ST-60 basically just grabs the info off of the Seatalk bus. Hook it up first to confirm functionality before you start drilling holes.

I just spoke to a tech at RayMarine about my depth readout problems on my ST50 Plus Tridata & Repeater- Autohelm/RayData/Raymarine unit He informed me to look for an ST60 Plus part#A22004-P display unit. I've seen other part numbers assosciated with these ST60+ displays but don't know if they'll work the same. I sent my old display into Raymarine and expect they will test it and call me back with a replacement/trade-in offer.

Dom is correct. Make sure that the data plugs are the same on the two units. Raytheon and Raymarine have changed data plugs over the years. Plug it in first.

And watch out for SeaTalk bugs. If the GPS unit is a Nav 398 it has a bug in it's Sea Talk implementation. Don't use Sea Talk with the 398, use NMEA 0183.

Best regards,
Frank C

I replaced my ST 60 Ratheon with a Tridata, no problems.
Used a dremmel tool to enlarge the hole but no big deal
