Recommended site for Risers & Manifolds

If you look in the bolt hole on the top of the manifold you will see that it goes into the cooling chamber. Coolant will leak past the threads. If you look at the gasket you will notice that the bolt hole is larger than the bolt. My bolts are exposed along the side of the riser. The coolant under pressure will simply flow past the threads, thru the hole in the gasket and up thru the lower flange of the riser. The use of sealant is also listed in the shop manual.
