when i put her in forward, she takes off with a vengeance. When i put her in reverse, she goes forward with a vengeance

quicksilver commander shift box.

made launching and loading very interesting.

Is this the first time out since the drive was serviced?

Is the shifter cable at the engine actually going into reverse? If so - by bet would be on an improperly installed outdrive.

That sounds scary dangerous - I’m visualizing a guy driving through his garage wall while thinking he had the car in reverse.

I hope everything was OK.

it's her first time out since i got her (work in progress) i had the outdrive off to relace trim limit switches.

it was ok. i jumped in the water, spun her around and off we went. afterwards, i pulled her onto the trailer with a rope.

okay, pulled off the outdrive and all looks well. shift rod is in the fork as it should be...still does the same thing. think the problem may be in the shifter. quiksilver commander. when i hit the "throttle button "and move the lever, she goes into gear. the neutral lock bar is very difficult to engage, and reverse gives me forwards. any and all ideas welcome.
