Ok I have a 98 290da, with alpha drives, I want to seperate the throttle and gear controlls, I have inboards on my 1975 Century and it is so easy to manouver and I would like the same feel on my Sea Ray or close anyways.
1. Can this be done?
2. Has anyone done it?
3. What type of controlls and cables would you suggest?
4. Was this ever an option on a 1998 SDA?

Thanks in advance for your input

Unless you go with electronic controls ($$$$$$$$$$), I don't know of anything that will make your stern drives feel anything like your inboards. It's just the nature of the beast... Stern drives vs. Inboards. Oh, did I mention that the electronic controls are pricey? :smt101

On edit: However, it is possible that you can improve on what you have by replacing shifter and/or cables. If you disconnect each component and operate manually, it may give you an indication of it's "health".
