Several 420 Sedan Bridge questions

Just had bottom paint done on 420 sedan bridge. While out of the water the yard person said he thought the zincs on the stern and trim tabs were wrong and were supposed to be magnesium. Turns out they were magnesium after all so ok. But, that brought up the question about what to use on engines.

Do you use zinc or magnesium anodes on the aftercooler and heat exchangers on a boat used only in fresh water?

Can someone post right product numbers for Cummins 6CTA’s Anodes?

Do you leave the circuit breaker on for the a/c side for the refrigerator as well as the circuit breaker for the 12v side?

Do you leave you battery chargers on full time?

When you are not going to be on your boat for several weeks, what circuits do you leave on?

Thanks for your help!

Hey Bob,

Part of your answers:

I use AL in FW as magnesium can be hard to find. Engines and Transom/Swim platform. Either one works. But NOT zinc in FW.

I turn my DC Solenoids OFF when I leave the boat, but my battery chargers stay ON.

I only have AC refrigerators/freezers and they stay ON.

Can't help with your P/Ns, sorry.

Best to you and Snow!

+1 with Carter's replies above. I too ran AL in freshwater with excellent results.

I always left the DC breaker for the refrigerator on along with the AC. If you lose AC power, they swap over to DC and everything stays cold.

Away from the boat in the summer, I always left the HVAC set to 78*, and to 55* in the winter. Battery charger(s) on 24/7. I ran the gen whenever I unplugged from shore power.

Carter,
in my search I was directed to boatzincs.com. They have a wide range of sizes and materials. I just ordered magnesium for our boat since it’s always in fresh water.
