We overnighted at a marina where they only had a single 30A twistlock available, Since my boat has two Shore lines I could only have one plugged in at a time. Fridge, TV & Batt Charge on Line 1, Air on Line 2. I don't have a Y-adapter to split it. Since it was only one night it was no big deal. But thinking about it now, I do have a 30A to 15A (Standard Plug) adapter. Could I have connected Line 1 to the Shore power, which feeds the outlets on the boat. Then plug Line 2, using the adapter, into one of the cockpit outlets. The only thing I would have used on Line 2 is the air conditioning. Not sure how much current the air draws.

Yes, it's possible.... But you are still limited to 30 amps for everything and that could mean some power juggling. Not having everything on at once (especially at start ups).
Better yet, find a 15 amp on the dock and plug your 2nd 30 amp cord in with your adapter (30a to 15a) and not have to worry......The only exception here is I'm assuming your boat is 2 x 120 volts, not 240 volts ???

Your cockpit outlet is GFCI. Inductive motors, like in your AC Compressor, don't like to be plugged into GFCI protected outlets.

almost every marina I have been in that has 15amp power on the dock is putting it out thru GFI outlet.....?

Those 15amp GFCI outlets are convenience outlets...just like around a pool. The GFCI circuit in that case is intended to protect humans. They are not intended to have your boat powered from them.

same situation happened to us at a transient slip in forked river (figures - the slip belonged to a snailbloater that was out for a few days). i contacted the dockmaster and she sent a kid down with a 50' 30amp cable and he got me set up at another power-tower up the dock for the house duties. i kept the ac units plugged into the closest tower (behind the boat). the longer the line the more the resistance.
