Many owners of smaller cruisers currently have a Garmin 4xx-5xx or similar and wish for a 7xx or similar. Would the smaller GPS and an ipad be more functional for the money or is the new larger screened GPS the way to go? Which choice is better and why?

I have a smallish lowrance on the boat and the iPad. I like the combo. The iPad has connectivity which is sweet. I'm posting on it now on my boat somewhere in NJ. I can check weather, find marinas, check fuel prices, find the nearest west marine, all while my gps is plotting away. But today we saw a simrad system all decked out. That was sweet, but it was $15k. So I'll stick with my setup.
