Startron vs. Valvtect

I'm not an expert on fuel additives. I am left wondering why the big guy at Valvtect never answered the question posted here.

...for what it's worth.

Startron is extremely inexpensive/gallon. If the VT stuff is good - great - it's a bonus. You won't hurt anything if you use both.

FYI - Startron is also a stabilizer. By the way your post is worded, it seems as though you're adding an additional stabilizer?

Been using Startron since the inception of this stupid E-10 crap (fall 2006?). Started with their loading dose and have been adding the appropriate amount with each trip to the gas dock since. Have had no fuel realted problems. I've never used Valvtect's bottles stuff but have taken on gas at Valvtect gas docks several times. I noticed nothing significant enough to make me seek out a Valvtect gas dock.

Isn't it good that you haven't noticed anything?

My marina has Valvetect and I believe there is a differance, been using it for 4 years and not one fuel related problem (knock on wood...)

Just my $.02

A difference implies that you tried both ways and have found the valvtect way to be better. I have used garden variety gas and valvtect gas and have noticed no difference in the way the boat runs or the economy numbers (which I track very carefully).

I am glad I see no difference in how the boat runs since I've been using Startron, which correlates with E-10 being rammed down all our throats. That means it is serving it's advertised purpose - stabilizing gasoline that is prone to phase separation and octane loss over time.

That being said, I know many friends that don't put jack **** in their tanks and they have had no problems either!

Dr. Ron, I'm with you - a lot of guys don't add anything.

As a newbie, I guess I'm gutless! I add Marine Stabil and Chemtool B-12, in the appropriate amounts, at each fillup.
