I have a 1995 Sea Ray Express Bridge and it has fiberglass steps leading up to the bridge. Over the years, the non-skid has worn off and the steps are now slippery which is a problem.

My cockpit floor is fiberglass. I like the teak look but don't like the teak expense (or the cost for fake teak either). I don't want carpet as that what was on the steps and cockpit before and it didn't last.

I tried the non-skid adhesive back "tape" and what a mistake !!!!!

Has anyone done their own non-skid coating? I don't know what else to do.

Thanks

Randy

I just did my own on the cockpit steps in my 340. I used Rustoleum Anti-skid additive and Brightside Hatteras Off-white. Turned out incredible! Just mask off the areas where you don't want it, mix it, and roll it on. Do NOT use sand or silica. Use the an actual anti-skid additive. Sand or silica will fall to the bottom of the mixture in the pan. The additive will stay suspended until you roll it out.

Brightside is a one-part polyurethane paint for boat trim and decks. They make a 2-part, but it is harder to work with. I just did the steps yesterday. I put down the first coat with the anti-skid additive yesterday, then followed up with a coat of normal paint today. It is VERY durable. I did the same to my swim platform last month and it has taken some abuse since then. Holds up very well and stays shiny. Easy to clean as well.

The color I chose was Hatteras Off-White due to the fact that my boat has been painted that color. It matched perfectly. I maybe should have used a slightly different color just to show it off, but that is all preference.
