Hi Folks!

I recently purchased a 2007 185 Sport lightly used and in good shape. First day out I dinged up the prop a little in unfamiliar waters and am looking to replace and get the original reconditioned for a spare. It's not real bad and still runs ok but seems to be a little low end vibration that wasn't there initially.

Question: What is the stock prop for the 2007 185 Sport??? The prop currently on the boat is a Solas and the markings seem to indicate 14.2 x 23 ... this seems an odd size based on a little research (seems a 14 x 19 is more common).

The original owner had the prop replaced after a similar incident so this is not the OEM prop and not sure it is appropriate. What size would the OEM have been??? Should I go back to OEM size or make some changes??? It is very light so assume it is aluminum.

We're looking for good overall performance between 4-6 people (~800lbs) on the boat tubing/knee boarding/wake boarding and cruising. We spend time here in VA on Lake Chesdin, the James River, and Smith Mountain Lake.

Feedback and suggestions appreciated!
Greg

Hey Greg, I just got rid of a 07 Chaparral 190 ssi and did the same thing with the original prop. I replaced it with a Solas and got a little more top speed out her. I had the same I/O set up. The dealer told this prop was the ideal replacement to the factory. It was the 14 x 1/8 x 19

With a gear ratio of 1.81, stock size would have been 23". Look at the stickers on the side of your drive for ratio.

Use the search tool - you'll be amazed at how many threads are already on here about the questions you pose.

I have the '06 185 and the oem prop is 14.25 x 23. If you are going to pull skiers/tubers and you stick to an aluminum 3 blade drop to the 21" pitch.

Thanks to everyone for their responses...yes it does look like with the 1.81 gear ratio (verefied the sticker) that I should be running what I have. Think I'll stay OEM size until I have some more hours and data before trying a pitch change...right now I wouldn't know good from bad!!! Will have a week of fun next week and should be able to get a better feel for the boat.

Thanks!
Greg
