I need to replace my stock swim platform lights. They both filled with water last year and died. I have no idea why. They were never hit and are not covered by any warranty. If I replace them with stock type lights I have 2 options, the incandescent version or what appears to be a new LED version.

See for specs of each:

Thoughts on which may be brighter? Seems like the LED would be an overall better options.

The LED = 450 lumens
50 watt halogen = 800 lumens.

The LED's are going to be half as bright. Unless battery draw is a concern the halogens will be a better choice.

Seems I've read about alot of these Barnegat lights failing. I'd look into other options...

I have one full of water and one with about an ounce of water. I replaced the really bad one. I think the folks who install these put six screws all the way in to the swim platform and distort the plastic housing causing the filler to peal away allowing water to penetrate the housing.

They are assembled and then filled with sealant - lots of it. I put the new one on with only two screws to avoid the same problem.

I'm gonna call the company and see if they will do something. If not, I guess I'll research my other options. Anyone have suggestions on options that wouldn't require major install changes? I'm happy to seal a couple screw holes but prefer not to drill out more.
