While running my gen-set (Westerbeke 4.5) my systems monitor light and buzzer came on.Indicating generator shut down, however the unit was still running? Its not overheating and has oil pressure.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.Tom

That is strange. The monitor is wired that it sounds for the generator when the genny switch is on, but the run relay in the generator is deactivated. I'll guess that it's a wiring problem between the genset and the monitor panel. My wiring diagrams are aboard Just Ducky so I won't have the details until the weekend.

Tom, Those darn System monitors can go bad. I posted about mine several times. Almost caused me a heart attack one nite. Had to replace it. Good luck, JC

Been away on the boat for the last 10 days, however I did have the chance to start diagnosing. What I found was there are 2 wires that go to the Systems Monitor from the genset. One is the ignition on feed ,the other is a black wire with a white tracer that comes from the gensets oil pressure switch to the SM.With the gen running there is no power at the SM at this wire from what I see there should be?I haven't had the time yet to open the panel at the genset to trace further. Thanks again Guys!I'll post updates.Tom

The oil pressure switch grounds the black/w wire when there is no oil pressure. You should not see any voltage. Check that the switch terminal is zero ohms off and infinity with the engine running.

Best regards,
Frank

If the switch was bad wouldn't the genset shut down?
