... dockside restaurants on the Bay.

We go alot to Cantler's on Mill Creek north of Annapolis and Pusser's in Annapolis. We occasionally go to the Fisherman's crab deck (or whatever it's called) in Kent Narrows.

I'm looking for a new place or two we can try that would be an easy round trip from Rock Hall at 30MPH. I'm assuming the food everywhere is about the same, so we're looking for places with available dockage and a fun atmosphere (don't say Red Eyes on a Sunday afternoon  .... I mean family fun).

Any ideas?

My kids always like going to the Crab Claw (the red building on the right as you enter the harbor) in St Michaels. I drop the hook outside the harbor though and there is a dinghy dock right next to the place.

Should probably have a thread on good dockside restaurants around the bay... and you should hurry up because the Four Suns is going to be poking around up there for about a month starting at the end of June.

I’ll second the Crab Claw in St. Michaels. Two others just across the harbor are “The Town Dock Restaurant†and perhaps our favorite “Foxy’s Marina Barâ€. We like the atmosphere at Foxy’s plus all the servers know our dog by name and allow her to sit with us on the outside deck area – and the food is great especially the marinated and grilled Chilean Sea Bass. We joined the Museum, which gives us free daytime docking privileges, a real plus on crowded weekends. You can drop the hook just outside as Four Suns does or anchor in the Harbor by the Museum. One word of caution, the Admirals tend to get quite caught up with the shopping in town – may want to bring a good book.

jrirvine1,
Would that good book be a check book ???? :smt043
Thats the only book my wife brings along when the shopping bug bites her!! :smt100

I should've added the Crab Claw to my list of usual spots. We go there every time we're in St. Michaels. Remember, they only take cash! (I wonder why that is?)

Jrirvine- great idea with joining the Museum... the lack of temporary dockage has precluded us from treating St. M as a daily destination.... that could change things! How is availability of daily dockage at the museum? Yes, I know we could anchor out, but that reeks of effort    .

So Four Suns... you're coming up to the wimpy part of the Bay?!? You should definitely stop by the Rock on your trip!

Frank, never considered the check book a "good book" as it has potential for doing great harm. :smt043

We call ahead one hour and they have always had a place for us to tie up. As as member you can stay the night for about 2.50/ft. Powered slips are limited and only can be reserved for the night one week in advance. Also, for some reason they will not allow use of our generators. :smt017

yeah... I am bringing my injured dog and going to hang out up north with all you sissy boys for about 4 weeks. We have reservations at Rock Hall from July 2 through the 5th.

Gary- where are you staying in RH? Also, you're coming at the right time, as they've promised a killer fireworks show on the 3rd to celebrate the tricentennial of the town. As far as restaurants, you'll definately want to go to Waterman's and the Harbor Shack while you're in town. Waterman's you can get to by boat (even your boat), but the Shack is a dinghy-only (or Rock Hall tolley) place. Enjoy!

we are staying at Haven Harbour. We'll probably motor around to the Harbor to see the fireworks and see how may speed boats hit us on the way back.

Gary- my parents (who live on their boat), brother and cousin all keep their boats at HH. It's a great place! Taking the boat out to see the fireworks is a great idea, but you are right that it will be a madhouse to and from. Worth doing though, but complete mayhem.

Sorry for getting my own thread off topic... anyone know of any dockside joints other than the ones mentioned above?

Try The Wild Duck Cafe on Frog Morter Creek off the Middle River. There is also another place up the Middle River but I do not remember the name. They did have bands on the deck. Tolchester has a new chef from Quebec, Canada and his food is fantastic. You can tie up on the bulkhead by the restraunt or there are spots by the fuel dock. After dinner you could see a great sunset on the boardwalk while the kids play on the beach. There also used to be a neat place on Bear Creek off of the Patapsco.

Prodigal, The Dock of the Bay by the cut is excellent, but sometimes hard to find a spot to dock. They actually have a playground as well as seating outside and sometimes has music. There's also Carsons Creekside.

Deb Finder--- where is "the cut" and where is Carsons Creekside? Middle River? Thanks!

The "Cut" is the narrow channel on the south west side of Heart-Miller and Pleasure Island. The Restaurant sits at the end of Millers Island (the town).

Carsons Creekside is in Dark Head Creek, beyond Wilson Point in Middle River.

On the West side you could try Mike's Crabhouse on the South River (below the Severn R.) and Thursday's or Pirates Cove on the West River (below the South R.).

On the East side we like Kentmore (on Kent Island) which would be a shorter cruise for you then the others. The entrance to Kentmore is narrow so make sure no other boats are coming out.

You could also try Hemingway's at the Bay Bridge Marina. I'm not sure about temporary dockage over there, I haven't been there for quite a while.

Today we go to the Middle River to try one of the below:

Wild Duck Cafe
Carson's Creekside
River Watch

Thanks for the advice!
