Had a great day at the lake today and had a good trip home. I blew a trailer tire just down the road from my house which was good luck. The problem is I can not break the nuts loose on the tire even with an air wrench. I am going to have the tire store change it for me Wendesday since I need a new tire. Luckly I have a dual axle trailer.

My question is can I put some anti sieze compound on the threads so that I can get those nuts off next time? Other suggestions are welcome also.

Thanks everyone.

I use an anti-sieze compound on my trailer lug nuts/bolts. I have done it for years with no problems. I also tighten the nuts/bolts by hand with the same tools that I carry to use on the side of the road.

Same for me. I used simple axle grease and a tire iron.

You should have an owners manual that tells you what the torque should be on the lug nuts. You should have a torque wrench, and verify that they are correct. After the tire is replaced, the torque should be rechecked after about 50 miles of use. Here in section 8.2.13 there are some general recommendations.

Verify that the tire store torques the lug nuts correctly. They are not pulling the trailer down the road, you are.

I use antisieze on my trailer lugs and have for years with no problem, the important thing is make sure they are torqued properly. I put mine in salt water all the time and have no problems, I also loosen and check from time to time.
