My water hose is always just laying on the transom locker floor. I’ve seen plastic hose holders that I could buy, but they're awful expensive... for a piece of molded plastic!:smt013 Plus, I haven’t seen any that are long enough for a 50’ coiled hose. So, I was sitting at my work bench, thinking, “What could I make this out of?” And then, over in the corner of my garage was a pice of 4” PVC drain pipe - the type that has drainage holes in it - also the wall is about half the thickness of Schedule 40. Wouldn’t you know, this coiled hose fits right in!

So, I attached three large L-brackets to the rear wall of the locker, cut about a 1/3 of the diameter off the pipe - basically a wide slit going lengthwise - and fastened the pipe to the L-brackets. Ta-Da! Instant hose holder - and all of stuff was just laying around my garage! I cut the "slit" about 1/4" narrower than the hose diameter. This way the hose won't fall out, but it's still very easy to "pop" the hose back in. Plus, if only need 10' of hose, the rest will stay in place.

It looks tight in the picture (have you ever tried to get a picture from the inside of your transom locker?:smt101). But, there are a good couple of inches between the pipe and the fenders. And, it only protrudes aft (from the locker opening) about 3 inches. It’s less obtrusive than it may look in the picture.

Anyways, I’m happy with the way it turned out - maybe someone else can use this idea, too.

Looks pretty good. I have a coil flat hose and made a nylon strap with a snap that I hang mine next to the line straps.
I like that idea, but I have my grill pedestal under where you have it so I'll need to see if I could still reach it if I were to get that type of hose ande copy your idea.

It looks nice and clean.

Very nice....how does it attach to the inside of the locker?

The glass there is only about 3/8" thick, maybe less. So screws are not an option. I used PC-11 (just like Marine-Tex but less expensive and easier to use) to epoxy the brackets to the rear fender wall. 5200 would work, as well. I sanded the area where the brackets would mount with 60 grit to give the epoxy a little more "bite".

I used 3 brackets - I'm sure 2 would be just fine, but I had a bunch of the brackets sitting around... so why not, you know?:smt001

Nice to think - Outside of the Box!
great idea.

You might also consider a "quick disconnect fitting" for attachment to the pressure regulator connection.

Very nice Dennis. This has been another issue on my list of todos. I have the coil hose, and have looked at the holders in the store, but didn't like the options. Just might have to try this one on.
