Port engine has excessive exhaust coming from the underwater port. The above water port seems normal. New water pump, nothing in the above water port hole. Any ideas?

I don’t follow what you’re trying to describe? First, the above water port as you call it is essentially a bypass for when you are at idle. The engine is not creating enough exhaust pressure to overcome the pressure created by the boats draft. The underwater exhaust port is torpedo shaped. When moving through the water, it creates a low pressure due to its shape thus helping to pull the exhaust gases and cooling water through the bottom.

Having said all of that, how do you know that there is too much exhaust coming out of the Port underwater exhaust?

At idle, the port side underwater port is belching air and water out of it. This is a recent event. I was hoping someone was familiar with the interior of the "muffler" and could give insight before I pull the above water port hose.
