My 1997 250 DA has two new batteries. Battery #1 keeps dying. At first we blamed the bilge pump, but after replacement and testing, we couldn't imagine the bilge pump running long enough to kill that battery. In any case, when we arrived one morning to find a dead battery #1, we headed out on battery #2. We didn't have anything running while stopped (at a marina) and battery #2 served to start us back up. When we returned home, we found that battery #1 now had a charge, even though switches were on #2 all the time. So my questions are:
1. Why would battery #1 drain at my slip with nothing on (how long would that bilge pump have to run?)
2. Battery #1 charged from the engine runnning even though the switch was on #2, it appears. Is that the way it should work?
As I said, batteries are new this season.
Thanks
